It may be very difficult for foreigners to understand - and it is difficult for me to understand as well - at least in this case the researcher in charge is just very dumb on this, alas. It didn't have to end up like this.
To establish trust, especially on a sensitive topic such as covid origin, it is really important for Chinese researchers to be transparent and open, and in particular to respond to the yet unresolved questions sent by email from their foreign scientific colleagues, on the specific points for which they have answers. In absence of answers, suspicion is increasing. The current situation is so unfortunate.
