I once was flying home to the UK via Beijing from Sidney over Christmas. I took 48h in Beijing for a hot springs visit (which I highly recommend). Work called and said "actually we need you in Bangalore." Fine, I thought. I'll change my flight to Bangalore. Except there is no flight! At the time (2019) there wasn't even a flight to Delhi! I was amazed. In the end I flew to Hong Kong then to India.

It is sad. Our classmates from China couldn't visit a friend's wedding in Bengaluru because tourist visas are not being issues to Chinese nationals.
I don't know what good it serves to keep Chinese nationals out of India.
